The Absurd Election: Colbert ’08!

leave a comment »

Rush Limbaugh often speaks about demonstrating absurdity by being absurd.

Stephen Colbert is putting this theory into action.  Really its the idea of his whole show, but he’s put it into overdrive with his presidential campaign.

There is no shortage of the absurd in American politics; but one of the worst is how much campaigning has already taken place when the ’08 election is still a year away.

And so at this point, I have to say that that I wholeheartedly support Steven Colbert in his run for president.

When and if it becomes a serious race, I will begin to consider my decision seriously.  At this point, I totally understand Newt Gingrich’s desire not to even participate in the process; I believe he said “it would be like Charles DeGaulle running for President in the 3rd Republic.  The process didn’t deserve him.”

A very arrogant way to look at it, but a very true way too I think.
